How did we get here? Just a little misunderstanding or argument on a wattsapp group by supposed brothers has now led to a plan to physically attack Com. Umar Yakubu Ali, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly who is the member representing Lokoja I State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam.
Information reaching us from a confidential security personnel who is not a member of the wattsapp group and not even an indigene of Kogi State confirmed to us yesterday ( 4th November, 2017) that ” One Com. Umar Yakubu Ali, CPS to former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, has been marked for physical attack over the video evidence he supplied in defence of his principal when the question of non performance of his principal was asked”. The source went on to mention two youth ( names withheld for now) as the master minds, who have seen Com. Ali’s response to questions asked and other activities as a threat to their growing political profile and game plan.
On getting this information, which was a privileged one, we reached out to Com. Ali who confirmed to us that indeed, something like what the source said happened but that he wasn’t even online when the video response was given, since the videos have been on social media for long. He however, recognized the fact that life and death is in Allah’s Hand and any threat to his life in the performance of his duty is only an exercise in futility.
We are however, concerned and so we went ahead to report the matter to the appropriate quarters, just in case they ‘lived up to expectation’.
May God protect Com. Umar Yakubu Ali from his planned attackers and indeed, protect all defenseless citizens of the State as we struggle to fend for our families.
We shall update you with any new development as we have resolved not to rest as we follow this matter to a logical conclusion.
