The Management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has expressed profound sadness over the death of Professor Kennie Enojo Enojo, a Professor of Political Economy and Director of the University’s Centre for Pre-Degree and Diploma Studies.
Professor Enojo died in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026, after a protracted illness.
Until his death, he was an accomplished academic, administrator, researcher and intellectual who had dedicated many years of service to the growth and development of Prince Abubakar Audu University.
In a statement signed by Uredo Omale, Public Relations Officer, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, the Vice-Chancellor of PAAU, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, described Professor Enojo’s passing as a painful and colossal loss to the University community.
Professor Usman said the late don was a distinguished scholar, a committed administrator and a dedicated university teacher whose contributions to the University’s development would remain indelible. He noted that Professor Enojo, who was fondly referred to as “The State,” devoted his years of service to the pursuit of academic excellence at the institution, adding that his wealth of experience and contributions to academic scholarship and administrative responsibilities would be greatly missed.
The Vice-Chancellor commiserated with the deceased’s family, the Department of Political Science, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Centre for Pre-Degree and Diploma Studies, as well as his colleagues, students, friends and associates, and the wider University community. Professor Usman prayed that God would grant the family and the University community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, and prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed.
Professor Enojo joined the services of the University as a Graduate Assistant on November 1, 2002, and rose steadily through the academic ranks before being pronounced a Professor by the Governing Council of the University on October 1, 2023.
