Hon. Muhammed Yahaya Dongo, popularly known as Ozi Dongo, has formally accepted the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for Okene Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, conceding to Hon. Sani Salau Ogembe, who emerged as the party’s flag bearer.

The primary election was held on May 16, 2027.

In a statement on Wednesday, Dongo congratulated Ogembe on his victory, describing it as a collective win for all aspirants who took part in the contest and a reflection of “the spirit of democracy, unity, and collective purpose” within the party.

Dongo, who had contested for the seat, called on his fellow aspirants to similarly accept the party’s decision and join forces to secure victory for the APC in the general election, stressing that a win for the party would translate into progress for the constituency as a whole.

He commended the APC National Leadership for what he called a hitch-free primary exercise and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to deliver wins across the board, from the presidency to councillor-level races, in the upcoming elections.

The statement also extended appreciation to key party figures, including former Kogi State Governor Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, whom Dongo credited with mentoring a new generation of party leaders and wished success in his forthcoming Senate bid. He further praised Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his leadership and commitment to party unity, as well as State APC Chairman Engr. Aliyu Ezzu Momoh and local party stakeholders for their role in guiding the primary process.

Dongo thanked his family and supporters for their backing throughout the campaign, urging his base — which he referred to as the “Ozi Dongo movement” — to redirect their energy toward supporting the party’s chances in the general election.

Addressing the people of Okene Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency directly, Dongo pledged that the party’s emerging leadership would prioritize empowerment, human capital development, agriculture, and education, and called on residents to remain committed to the APC’s mandate.

“Together, we have won the primary. Together, we shall win the general election,” Dongo said in his closing remarks, expressing hope for unity and progress for the constituency, Kogi State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Ogembe now advances as the APC’s candidate for the Okene Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency seat ahead of the general elections.
