For about 16 weeks, I watched Hon. Victor Omofaiye criss-cross the hinterland of a Kogi West, through the eyes of his Media aide, Prime Abubakar. From Oke Bukun to Akutupa, touching Odo Akpe to Olle/Oke Offin, to Aiyetoro Kiri and others; combining out all the Ward Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency unit.
Omofaiye represents the people of Ijumu State Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, he carries that charisma of the office, so when he hit the streets of Ijumu/Kabba-Bunnu Federal Constituency, he was not pelted with clubs and pebbles, neither was he received with frowns and hisses.
However, that is not the bane of this article.
Omofaiye has displayed some level of loyalty to his party. When the issue of zoning in his Senatorial district came up, feelers has it that he was prevailed upon to relinquish his ambition for the betterment of his party. Something he did without rancor. No media scandals. No grandstanding.
That is exceptional. If many party faithful would display this sacrificial gallantry, it would go a long way to reduce the burden for the Leader of the party in the state, Gov. Yahaya Bello who has also intelligently managed every grey area that could lead to the party fracas, the nature which characterized the years of Dino Melaye and his co travelers.
I am in the know that he has dropped his House of Representatives ambition, opting to re-contest for the Kogi State House of Assembly, Ijumu State Constituency.
Using Omofaiye as a bright stick of loyalty and dedication, it would be honorable for other party members dragging for different offices to consider the interests of the party in securing more seats at the Senate, Reps and House of Assemblies, above their own interests.
Omofaiye, may you succeed in your future endeavors. Loyalty pays.
