Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in an attempt to cover up his sordid acts and Misappropriation of Bail-out funds and other statutory accruals to the state coffers since assumption of office to the tune of N200 Billion, has forced the Speaker of state assembly to resign.

Recall that the House overwhelmingly supported a motion moved by one Hon Musa Jimoh Omiata, representing yagba east, calling on the state government to urgently make public the details of state and local government civil servants that have been cleared, pardoned and paid salary arrears from June 2015 till date. The house committee on Public Accounts having being mandated by the Speaker, after a unanimous YES vote also directed the Head of service, Accountant general, Commissioner for finance and the Auditor general of the state to appear before it to give account of their respective offices in regards to the resolution of the House on the subject matter.
Recently Yahaya Bello was stoned in Ankpa, Idah and Adankolo in Lokoja, capital city respectively for the obvious reason of leadership  ineptitude. He came to Adankolo to flag off a “Yahaya Bello Model Primary school” side by side with an existing dilapidated  primary school structure begging for attention. Yahaya Bello insisted that the existing dilapidated structure was not a creation of his administration and as such would have nothing to do with it despite appeals from The community leader! The community youths, being hiked by the provocative posturing of the Governor, rented the air with sachet water and stones. It took the intervention of the security personnel to evacuate him out of the community for safety.
Kogi House of Assembly waking up from its slumber amidst multiple troubles ravaging the state, after being persuaded and pushed to realise their  constitutional powers over the excesses of the supposed youngest Governor in Nigeria, for the first time since their inauguration attempted to live up to their legislative responsibilities at the plenary but was disrupted by the government thugs and the killer squad of aimed security agencies who supervised the assault on Hon Friday Sani Makama.
Hon Makama being a strong voice and a force to reckon with, was seen as a political enemy of Yahaya Bello when the both had disagreement on certain issues and the governor masterminded his illegal suspension from the house, but while on suspension, he got repented and turned to the people. Hon Makama joined his colleagues in a plenary at a time a burning issue was on the motion after a court of competent  jurisdiction quashed his purported suspension. He joined forces with the embattled speaker and brough his political experience to bear to save the Speaker and make sure the house in the majority resist the Governor’s ploy to kill the popular motion demanding for accountability.
When a leader is weak, he surrounds himself with huge security and perceive every rising voices as opposition. The question is, why is Governor Yahaya Bello afraid of a legitimate oversight function of a constitutionally established legislature(the second Arm of government) demanding for an explanation on all accruals and receipts including Bail-out funds? Has kogi state become the personal estate of Yahaya Bello?
In the face of injustice and oppression, rascalism is the order of the day and anarchy will reign supreme… keeping silent is conspiracy and criminal! Let us all rise!!
