Today, there is poverty of leadership and loyal followership. Certainly, there is manifest fundamental disconnect between leadership and followership. If my memory serves me well, the last time we had service-oriented and selfless leadership was during the era of late senator A. T. Ahmed of blessed memory, he was the last people-orientated leader in the land under this democratic dispensation. Indeed, that’s the naked truth.

In the same vein, it is safe to aver that there is poverty of loyal followership in the last two decades since the return of democracy in Nigeria.

Indeed, followership in Ebiraland has been monetized and commercialized by hungry and ungodly people masquerading as party delegates and so called supporters who don’t know any other language apart from money.

Viewed against this background, therefore, there is a school of thought that believes strongly that any idiot or moron can become a Senator, House of Representatives member, House of Assembly member or any other elective office as long as you are a moneybag who can buy the conscience of party delegates or money conscious electorates in the land, what a pity. Viewed against this background, it gladdens my heart that governor Yahaya Bello has put an end to all this mess and nonsense that has become a bye word in our political evolution.

Certainly, I make bold to say that all the primary elections of APC were a product of a credible, free and fair process conducted under the watchful eyes of the media and journalists. I didn’t observe any mago mago or wuru wuru process of buying and selling of votes by any of the aspirants that participated in the said primary elections. For example, the primary poll that produced Alhaji Yakubu Oseni as the flagbearer of APC for the forthcoming senatorial election slated for February 2019 was free, fair and credible. This is why this journalist is of the opinion that Alhaji Yakubu Oseni is God-sent.

Indeed, he emerged victorious because of his rich profile, antecedent, pedigree and people-orientated manifesto which he made available to all delegates at the recently held Primary election. His record of achievements as a seasoned banker and tax administrator speaks volumes as we approach the 2019 general elections, he has given the assurance that his Campaigns and Rallies would be based on issues and not on propaganda.

In my own opinion, I think candidate Alhaji Yakubu Oseni is good to go, carry go sir, the Senator that the good people of Kogi central deserve.
