One person have been reported dead as explosion rocked Idoji area of Okene local government area of Kogi state on Thursday evening.
An eyewitness account said the explosion occurred around 6pm on Thursday when some people including masquerades gathered to celebrate the annual Echane festival in Okene.
The source disclosed that the sound of the explosion affected many residents of the area, adding that a man whose name and address is yet to be identified lost two of his legs while many others sustained injuries.
According to him, one of the victims of the explosion died on their way to Okengwe general hospital where the victims were taken to, for medical attention.
He said some of the victims were referred to Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja as their injuries can not be handled by the medical personnel in Okengwe.
Confirming the incident, in a telephone conversation, the Police Public Relation Officer of the Kogi State Command William Ayah said one person was said to have died and many injured.
He added that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka had deployed Police bomb expert to the scene of the explosion to unravel the cause of the explosion
