… group begins masses welfare and rights advocacy.
The ancient city of Lokoja was wrapped in mixed feelings as the people of Kogi state continue to mourn the untimely and tragic departure of late Prof Pius Adesanmi, who lost his life to the unfortunate ill-fated Ethiopia Airline that crashed a few days ago.
While the people mourn the departure of their shining light and worthy ambassador, a newly unveiled pro-masses welfare and empowerment advocacy group led by immediate past Senatorial Candidate of ADC in Kogi West, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi has unveiled the ‘Prof Pius Adesanmi Memorial Scholarship Scheme’.
The advocacy group announced payment of tuition fee for two hundred (200) students in public schools across the 21 LGA of Kogi state.
This kind gesture, according to Omoluabi, is to immortalize the name and fond memories of a great icon that God raised in this part of the world.
He noted that Prof Adesanmi represented a whole lot for the masses while alive, he described him as the single uncompromising and untiring voice of the African masses.
“While he was here, he fought, worked, spoke and committed himself to the course of the unheard, unnoticed and impoverished masses,” he said.
He said although Prof Adesanmi was a comfortable man, but he devoted his life and time to the emancipation of the masses.
Another member of the group, Abdullahi Ibrahim said the Voice of the Masses is a pro-masses welfare and rights advocacy movement that is just unveiled to promote the welfare and rights of the people to decent livelihood.
He explained that the group has secured a partnership agreement with a UK based BAFA FOUNDATION to sponsor pro-masses empowerment and intervention programs in the area of scholarships, primary healthcare delivery, SMEs development, water provisions and energy interventions through subsidizing cost of certain essential products that are commonly used at homes for the good of the masses.
Voice of the Masses through the sponsorship of BAFA FOUNDATION will in the days ahead commence special masses empowerment after realizing the state of despair and abject poverty the people live in.
