Omala People Celebrates 800 Kilowatt Mini Grid Solar Energy Project in Abejukolo

The people of Omala local government area in Kogi state have expressed profound appreciation to the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu and the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Abba Abubakar, for their collaborative efforts in bringing a transformative 800 kilowatt mini-grid solar energy project to their community.

Speaking with this reporter on Tuesday, a resident of Abejukolo, Ademu Idris said the initiative marks a significant milestone for the people of Omala, reflecting a commitment to sustainable development and the well being of residents of the community.

“This groundbreaking project is unprecedented in our region, and we are immensely grateful for the positive impact it will have on our lives. By providing reliable solar energy, we are not only illuminating our homes and businesses but also fostering a safer environment. Access to electricity will help reduce the insecurity that has plagued our local government, empowering our community and enhancing our quality of life,” he said.

Residents expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of a “son of the soil” as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They noted that Prince Audu’s leadership and vision for a brighter future resonate deeply with the aspirations of the people of Omala and Kogi State as a whole.

A teacher, Mr Obaje Ojonugwa from Abejukolo said “together, we look forward to a brighter, more secure future community development particular a safe school environments.

“As we embrace this new era of energy access, we commend Honourable Minister Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, a true son of the soil, for his dedication to the development of our region. His efforts exemplify a leader who genuinely has the interests of the people at heart.

“Thank you and we promised to reciprocate this gesture with our votes come 2027.”
