Just as he called on members of his union to continue to comply with the 6pm am ban on motorcycle activities within Lokoja metropolis, the Lokoja branch chairman of the motorcycle Riders Association, Comrade Gimba K. Ibrahim, has made a passionate appeal to the Kogi State Government to make it 10pm to 6 am.

According to him, the appeal became necessary in view of the hardship being faced by commercial motorcycle riders as majority of them depend on the business to feed, clothe, pay house rent as well as children’s school fees.

Comrade Gimba who made the appeal in his office in Lokoja last week, disclosed that members of his union have continued to besiege his office day-in day-out with different complaints. He urged government to consider the suffering of his members and tamper justice with mercy.

He pointed out that those who got their motorcycle on hire purchase needed to remit on weekly basis. Comrade Gimba stated that 85 per cent of the population of Lokoja ride on motorcycles, adding that whatever affected his members would definitely affect the whole population.

He debunked the allegation that members of his union refused to comply with the ban, saying that those plying the road after 6pm are not registered members of the association adding that only those with their reflective jackets are genuine members.
