The Director and the Head of Service, Ofu Local Government Council, Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John has called on the women in the local government to live in unity and harmony for the purpose of progress and development of the area.
Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John who made the call at the Local Government Secretariat, Ugwolawo during the maiden inauguration of the ‘Women in Ofu’, charged the women to be disciplined in their daily endeavour and to continue to contribute their quota to the unity, peace and tranquillity of the area.
In a press statement signed by Omede Idoko Samuel, the Principal Information Officer, Ofu Local Government Council, she applauded the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, for giving the women forty percent of the political appointments in the State.
She added that the women in Ofu Local Government Area will continue to support the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo to succeed.

Earlier, in her speech, the president of the women in Ofu, Mrs. Christiana Ebune said that this women group was drawn from various segments of the Local Government, to come together as one with the common goal of moving the women forward.
Mrs. Ebune who said that the group is neither political nor religious called on the women in the area to shun gossip and backbiting, and let them come together for the growth and progress of the Local Government .
She applauded the DLG, Ofu Local Government Council, who is also the founder and the mentor of the women in Ofu, describing her as a champion of women employment and a loving and caring mother.
She said her vision of ensuring that women take their place in the affairs of life will not fall to the ground.
In a remarks, the former DLG, Hon Siaka Yakubu call on the women in Ofu to be committed to whatever they do and do it well, adding that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo have regard for the women.
He called on the DLG to carry the women along.
In her vote of thanks, the Secretary to the women in Ofu, Mrs. Helen Wada thanked the DLG, Deaconess Rachael Ukwo John for her commitment to the women in Ofu, saying that the women will continue to support her vision.
