Ahead of March 4th, 2017 keenly contested Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) chairmanship, Kogi chapter election, some media professionals have thrown their weight behind a well known image maker and publisher, Mike Abu.
The media professionals hinged their clamour for Mike Abu on the need to restore professionalism in the practice and to attract the desired change.
The leadership and professional traits displayed by Mike Abu in all his past assignments and positions has clearly distinct him as a born leader, hardworking professional whose finesse and candour is much more needed in the council now.
The group stated that a vote for Mike Abu will rejig the body at the state level and achieve more relevance at the national level in running the affairs of the union.
They expressed disappointment on the background moves by the previous executive to handover to same member of the caucus, saying it is tantamount to bastardising the fourth estate of the realm whose direct supervision of the democratic process in Nigeria rest on its oars.
The professionals advised Kogi journalists to rally round Mike Abu and discourage perpetuity that was not beneficial to the union in the last few years.
