The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi State Command, has apprehended a 35-year-old suspect, Adebayo Joshua, for allegedly vandalizing facilities at the Kogi State Project Cashew Aggregation Centre in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area.
The arrest took place on September 4, 2026, during a joint routine patrol conducted by NSCDC personnel from the Isanlu Division and local vigilantes.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Aliyu Abdullahi, the suspect was caught in the act of damaging critical facility equipment. Recovered items include peeled electrical cables and an electrical control board.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Joshua has made a confessional statement and is cooperating with officers to assist in ongoing investigations prior to prosecution.
Parading the suspect at the Command Headquarters, the Kogi State Commandant, CC Aletan Olumide Ebenezer, praised the joint patrol team for their prompt action and strong inter-agency coordination.
Commandant Aletan urged residents—particularly local youths—to assist security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence on suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
“Youths are the leaders of today and must channel their energy into legitimate, productive ventures rather than engaging in activities that jeopardize their future,” Ebenezer stated.
He highlighted Kogi State’s vast agricultural and mineral wealth, emphasizing that safeguarding public assets is vital to maintaining an environment conducive to economic growth and investment.
Reaffirming the directive of NSCDC Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant Aletan stressed that securing Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) remains the Command’s primary directive.
He assured the public that the NSCDC will maintain intelligence-driven operations to curb vandalism and theft across Kogi State, while calling for continued cooperation among traditional institutions, community leaders, vigilante groups, and the public.
