Kogi State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have apprehended four suspects for allegedly stealing coal and automotive gas oil, also known as diesel.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Commandant, Ahmad Gandi, said two of the suspects were arrested with a truck of diesel while the other two were caught with a truck of coal without weigh-bills.

Gandi noted that the suspects will soon be charged to court upon completion of  investigation and warned economic saboteurs to stay away from Kogi State as it is no longer business as usual.

The Commandant, who was recently posted to the State Command, said Kogi State will not be a safe haven for criminals.

“We are here to parade economic saboteurs, who are potential criminals. We have suspected vandals apprehended by our gallant men, two set of them; petroleum products and solid minerals. The suspected coals thieves were arrested in Banda while the petroleum product suspects were nabbed along Ajaokuta -Lokoja highway.

“They are suspected to have been involved in illegal activities. You know solid minerals is the area that government is trying to reduce saboteurs and Kogi has it in abundance, so that we can generate more revenue for the government.

“When they were arrested, they were seen with Fake weigh bills. Our men are still investigating it and we will soon charge them to court,” he said.

Gandi cautioned that economic saboteurs would not be allowed to have their way in Kogi State under his watch.
