A frontline politician from Kogi East and former House of Representatives candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the just concluded National Assembly elections, Hon Sani Idakwo Philips have stated that his party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) remains the only hope for the people of Kogi state to enjoy the dividends of democracy through sound and purposeful leadership.
Briefing newsmen after a critical meeting with some politicians in the state, Idakwo hinted that some politicians from other political parties have agreed to build a common consensus with the Social Democratic Party to rescue and cleanup the state from its current decay.
“The Social Democratic Party is capable of fixing the numerous problems bedeviling the state over the years and cleaning up the mess created by successive governments of both the PDP and the APC.
“Kogi as a state has tasted the misrule of the PDP worsened by the APC led administration in the state. Also important to note is that from political history, the state has never developed being with the party at the centre. It is now time for the people to entrust leadership to the SDP which has a clear vision on how to transform the state,” he said.
Idakwo stated that reliable information from the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja indicates that the party would create a level playing field for all aspirants by conducting a free and fair primaries elections as enshrined in its constitution as it has always done.
