Nov 11 Gov’ship Poll Freest, Most Credible in Kogi History – Progressive Political Parties

United Progressives Political Parties (UPPP) has congratulated Alhaji Usman Ododo on his victorious outing at the just concluded November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state.

UPPP, a coalition of registered political parties in Kogi State, said Saturday’s poll was the freest, fairest and most credible in the history of the state.

Speaking at a press conference in Lokoja on Monday, Chairman of UPPP, Alhaji Bala Idirisu, said the aims and objectives of the group is to see Kogi agenda thrive irrespective of political party affiliation.

“We are using this medium to congratulate INEC to have painstakingly followed the processes of conducting the freest, most credible and transparent election since 1999.

“This election is substantially in compliance with the electoral laws, and the electoral umpires has followed the electoral guidelines as amended, this election is unequivocally devoid of any iota of sentiments, agenda setting or ethnicity.

“INEC announced the result after due diligent collation of results from all local government areas of Kogi State and we make bold to say that this election is free, fair and credible and therefore acceptable to us,” the Chairman said.

Idirisu, however, appealed to the APC to be magnanimous in victory by demonstrating the policy of all inclusive governance as exemplified by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

”Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC should extend a hand of fellowship to all the political parties that struggled through the process of becoming the Governor of our dear state to present their agenda for the development of Kogi State, since the overriding principle is to bring a change for better.”

The UPPP Chairman commended the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his “dexterity, and doggedness for providing leadership in all ramifications, posterity will not forget you.”

The group also commended security agencies for demonstrating neautrality while monitoring the election.

He was particularly happy that security agents carried out the assignment ”devoid of intimidation, conspiracy with any arm of the ruling power to pervade injustice.

“Without you, democracy cannot thrive, Congratulations for this show of professionalism.”

Idirisu called on other parties and candidates that participated in the election to “exercise restraints for the peace of Kogites, since without peace, there’s no development.

“We are not ignorant of fact that some are aggrieved but nobody should take the law into his/her hands.

“As a law abiding citizen, there are various ways of ventilating all grievances.

“All political party candidates should also come together to build a Kogi of our dream where ethnicity, religion and sectionalism has no place

“We appeal to Governor – elect, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo to build on uniting the state where section of the three senatorial districts are treated fairly without any iota of sentiments.

“United we stand and divided we fall, your mandate is consolidation and discovering new grounds for posterity.”

The UPPP also appealed to the people of the state to remain calm and accept the outcome of the election in good faith.
