Action Alliance (AA) has described the just concluded Kogi governorship election as a “show of shame”.

Addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Monday, the State Chairman of the party, Deacon Fred Ambo said last Saturday election was fraught with irregularities and promised that Action Alliance will challenge the announced results in court.

Ambo stressed that the Kogi governorship election was marred by alleged ballot box snatching and outright manipulations in various polling units across the state.

”INEC promised us free and fair election, but what we saw was a show of shame. There were ballot box snatching, while result has already been written before the commencement of election to favour a particular political party. They have stolen our mandate.

“The party declared winner by INEC, if they are sincere with themselves, knew that they never won this governorship election in Kogi State.

“Why where they scared of our candidate, Olayinka Braimoh?

“They used their power to arrest him for no reason just because they want to subvert the will of the people. The Kogi State governorship election on Saturday is a scam and we won’t accept it. We are going to court to seek redress for this injustice,” he stated.

Ambo stated that results of last Saturday election were written before accreditation of voters started in their various polling units.

“We are not happy. Examination was not written but there was results. We reject the results announced by INEC in its totality. INEC is the problem of democracy in Nigeria. We are moving forward, we will go to court.”

He called on party supporters to remain calm and be law abiding while the they begin the process to seek redress.
