“One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.” — Rev. Dr. Martin

Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow youth of Kogi Central, I salute you all. We are in a season where ideas are all we need to rule the world. The better and progressive the youth, the better and developed the society. Society where the youth are not given appropriate orientation on politics, then the ugly situation we have before us today is inevitable. If a responsible father defines fatherhood as the ability to produce children without proper up-bringing, when his offspring grow up they may tend to follow the foot step of their father. Fatherhood is a huge responsibility that demands all gifts and wisdom from God and humanity and I trust God to see us through.
I wish I can swallow Vitamin Silent (Vitamin S) and fold my arms just as many of our high profile educated comrades. I tried but can’t help it.
I have seen the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, drunk insanity and exhibiting the effect of drug abuse, self-abuse and as result ending in the wretched niche of  political thugs.
Ladies and gentlemen, how do you feel when our teaming youth are paraded every week for one crime or the other? How do you feel when you see talented youth being tossed back and forth by the concert retro-effect of marijuana, cocaine, and codeine? News came to me recently of how the CTC’s House of Okehi LGA was attacked by unknown gunmen. What legacy are we building for our children?
The festival, Eche-ane that our fathers use as a medium to express their love to one another and as tool to for harnessing our collective unity suddenly become polluted that we kill ourselves. What a pity. I weep for my people.
What will our ancestor’s say to our generation when they look down from the other side of eternity?
Youth they say is the backbone of any society, but with our present sorry statistics on education and moral imbalance and skill deficiency, what do you think will become of our future?
The implication of producing youth without skills is that, when those who took their time to prepare themselves for opportunity are reaping the fruit, the lazing one will be skimming and plotting how to kidnap and rob them. And to avoid this deadly crime is to take a drastic action now to equip our teaming youth with the necessary tools to be self-sufficient.
Youth voice is crucial to the overall effectiveness of service, learning programs. Youth voice has a tremendous impact on political participation and policy outcomes, both short term and long term. Central have successfully gain a degree in criminal activities and I am not comfortable with this trend. I call on us to come together and reject this alien tag.
We are known by our name – Ebira – meaning good character, we are Ebira Youth with  difference, we are a radical opposition to crime. We are Youths whose passion for moral living seemingly outweighs our negative sides, if any. Let us begin to look at community without government; a community where our skills and talent are used to defined us.
We have been made to believe all we need to win election is money. “No Money no power” and this is dangerous to democracy. A system of government where money is the determinant of who rule you is a disastrous system. I summit before you today the gospel of truth, and it is the power to good governance, discard it or you discard your future and usher in disaster.
It time we revisit our selection process, let search for a leader with requisite management skills, leadership wisdom, we need a leader who is consumed by the zeal to offer his bit for the society. Money politics will not only fail in days to come but ruin us and render us helpless if nothing is done to change the system now. Money politics can only give you weak leader. Money politics will pave way for the weak in capacity and character to preside over the best of us. Money politics is one of the enemies of democracy. If democracy is called to service why does anyone  have to bribe their way through ?
As progressive youths, our driving  force into public office should not just be the money involved but to secure a position in a democratic setting where we can utilize our skills, potential and competence to the fullest and to the service of God and humanity, and be a practical team player by taking initiative that can be utilized into success.
Ladies and gentlemen, let go get ourselves equipped and ready for leadership revolution that  is knocking at  our doors. Go back to schools if need be. Get more degree if need be. Enrol in professional courses to fine-tune your knowledge bank if need be.
We must as a matter of urgency and instead of parading yourselves and wasting our precious time for peanut that cannot serve us for a month look for an opportunity to enhance our experience and skills. When leaders lack knowledge the masses is at their mercy. Nothing will change until we first change our mindset toward politics and positions.
“If you ever think the youths are  too small to be effective in politics you’ve never been in bed with a mosquito!” — Wendy Lesko
I call on Kogi Central youth, the time to redefine our involvement in politics is now, we must get involve mentally without violence ; we must show our skills and talent in the system without bias. We must drop politics of hatred for politics of love. We must discard politics of character assassination to politics of ideas sharing. Let engage our opponent who think we have no money so we cannot initiate political movement and if truly we are the back bone of the society now is time to prove it.
Never doubt a small group of thoughtful youths, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that we ever have. Come let rewrite our story, we are not terrorist, we are not criminal but youths divinely positioned for such a time as this.
We appreciate our Governor for his drastic movement to curb the menace of criminal activities in the state. I crave for the unity of all our teaming youth in the central, which is the only way we can sustain peace and good governance in the central and in Kogi state at large. I see a new breed without greed emerging; I see boys and girls across central coming together regardless of their faith and colour demanding for their position in the state.
“Darkness cannot drive out hate; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” — Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The day we realized that our disunity and hatred is what has robbed us of our miracle and breakthrough then the better for us. Once again, come let make central great, come let initiate Central Youth Movement (CYM). A movement that will usher in security of life and property, one that will ensure unity and development and uplifts the value of Ebira kingdom. Youth can’t be the leaders of tomorrow if we procrastinate and run away from public responsibility.
There is no power like the power of youth because the power of youth doesn’t stop until it hit the target.
“Education should not be the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” — William Butler Yeats
Without the voice of youth democracy serve no purpose. It will be nothing but institutions where the elders run and tell the youth what they need to know in order to continue this tradition of, this cycle of “we have master’s degrees and we know what’s best for you so just shut up and abide with elders policy.
His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi state, I will not stop calling you because you have been divinely positioned as the young father of Kogi state. My prayer for you is that, wisdom that you required to father this state without bias shall be granted unto you.
You have political power but you need divine power more. May heaven grant you Divine power. Amen
His Excellency, We believe that to confront the challenges our communities face, and the youths, we need not just demolishing of houses and whistleblower, we need to define issues and develop strategies for action. [We] foster leadership, literacy and language development among its participants and provide them an enriching job experience that prepares them for college and for careers in community organizing, advocacy and services delivery.
“Students should not only be trained to live in a democracy when they grow up; they should have the chance to live in one today.” – Alfie K
This is a time for bold measures. This is the community and we are the generation. Great changes in the destiny of mankind can be effected only in the minds of progressive youth. If we must dream of the community we want to live in, we must dream out loud and work for it ideological without violence and hatred.
Youth are the solution not the problem! Nothing about us without us is for us. This is who we are!
Together We Can Make Central A home for all regardless of who your mother or father is.
Kogi Central Youths, a new breed without greed, Central will work again in our life time.
Our lives will never be the same again.
