The Leadership and National Executive Council of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has honoured Comrade Okai Austin Usman with a belated birthday tribute, describing him as an outstanding youth leader and a relentless champion of good governance and popular participation.
In a statement signed by Abdullahi Yunus of the Leadership and National Executive Council, the NYCN said that although the exact day of Usman’s birth had passed, the significance of his contributions to youth development across the region and the country remained undiminished.
“Though the calendar page has turned past the exact day of your birth, the significance of your life, your contributions, and your unyielding commitment to the advancement of young people remains a daily inspiration to millions across our region and the nation at large,” the council stated.
The council described Usman as representing a rare breed of consistent, courageous, and purpose-driven young Nigerians, noting his long-standing grasp of the role young people must play in shaping the country’s socio-political landscape.
According to the statement, Usman has not merely demanded a seat for youth at the decision-making table but has earned it through principled advocacy, constructive engagement, and steadfast devotion to democratic ideals and accountable leadership.
