The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has congratulated Nigerians through the people of the State on the occasion of the nation’s attainment of independence from British Colonial Rule.

This is contained in a press statement signed and made available to the media by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

The Speaker particularly congratulated the people of the state for their gallant roles in the march to self government for the country which was realised in 1960, and urged them to continue to sustain their belief in the country and the state to be better.

Even as there are many challenges confronting the country, Rt Hon Umar stressed the need for citizens to be patient and appealed for continued belief in the ability of the current administration to make Nigeria better.

He said government at all levels are working round the clock to ensure they address the socioeconomic and political issues confronting Nigeria and urged the citizens to continue to pray and support their leaders to come up with pragmatic solutions to the challenges.

The Speaker used the opportunity to send his greetings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their sterling leadership to the country and Kogi State in particular.

He especially praised Governor Ododo for his leadership style which has put the yearnings of the people of Kogi State on the front burner.

The Speaker noted that the Governor has ensured improved infrastructure and other social services for Kogi people, adding that improved welfare for workers across the state has shown a new dawn and that Governor Ododo is a man of the people.

Rt Hon Umar therefore congratulated political leaders at all levels, especially members of the State House of Assembly for their service and appealed to them to redouble their efforts towards ensuring policies that would bring succour to the masses.
