The National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP), Kogi State chapter, has felicitated Governor Yahaya Bello as he joined fellow Nigerians to celebrate the country’s 61st Independence anniversary.

A statement jointly signed by the association’s Chairman, Dr Okungbowa Osaretin, and its Secretary, Dr Stanley Ugoh, and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Friday, also commended the governor for his giant strides in the health sector.

The association said that doctors working with the State Civil Service were proud of Governor Bello for his landmark achievements in the health sector including the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of hospitals across the three senatorial districts of Kogi state.

The association further appealed to the Governor to recruit more medical doctors and Nurses, noting that the gains of the recent upgrade of various health facilities across the State had increased patients’ patronage.

The medical and dental practitioners specifically stressed the need for urgent recruitment of more doctors into the Kogi State Hospitals Management Board (KHMB).

The association, however noted that the skipping approved by Governor Bello was not captured in the promotion letter given to doctors working with Hospital Management Board and State Ministry of Health who were promoted recently.

The association appealed to the state government to implement the skipping for the promoted doctors in the state.

The group stressed that the implementation of the skipping for the promoted doctors would encourage and motivate their members to put in their best, and also reduce brain drain.

NAGGMDP also congratulated the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Saka Haruna Audu; the Board Chairman Hospital Management Board and the CMD Kogi Hospital Management Board, Dr. Zakari Usman for their unrelenting efforts towards the advancement of healthcare services in the state.
