Niger Tornadoes have received approval of the Kogi State Government to adopt the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja as their new home venue for the upcoming season.
Goal learnt that the Tornadoes have submitted a proposal to the Kogi State FA and Kogi State Government seeking for an approval for the use of the Confluence Stadium.
Umar Suleiman, chairman of the Kogi Football Association has confirmed the reciept of the proposed request and the approval of the state government.
He said that the state government’s decision to approve the proposal was due to intention to promote the sports edifice and will bring top football to Lokoja fans.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that Niger Tornadoes have told us they want to come and use our stadium for their home matches,” Suleiman told Goal.
“So we have to do our best to bring them around. We know this will sure promote the state capital and bring good football to followers of the game.
“We have a responsibility to accept them as our neighbours and provide them a wonderful host and adequate support during their home games in Lokoja.
Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes have written the League Management Company seeking an approval for the use of the Confluence Stadium.
Niger Tornadoes will play their first home game on February 28 after their opening away trip to Jos against Plateau United on February 21.
