In a bid to give hope and promote Girl Child Education and assist the less privileged students, a Non-Governmental Organization, Lokoja Action Women Progressive Association has given out exercise books to Primary schools pupils in Lokoja.
Speaking at the presentation of the materials at St Mary’s LGEA Primary School Lokoja, the President of the Association, Malama Hajara Illiyasu, revealed that the writing materials will help and assist parents and children who were not financially stable to purchase necessary writing materials.
“It’s our goal to promote girl child education. Based on that, the association under my leadership decided to distribute this token to promote girl child education, because when you educate a girl you educate a nation.
“Since the initiative was established last year, the association has impacted over 100 lives by taking out-of-school children back to school and giving necessary educational materials to students who are not just indigent but exceptionally brilliant students.
“We want to see how we can help children, especially girls, in this community to achieve their dreams so that those who want to become doctors will still become doctors and those who want to become engineers will still become engineers,” she said.
Head Teacher of the School, Mrs Awelewa Elizabeth in are remarks thanked the association for the good gesture and appealed to other organization to emulate them.
“On behalf of the teachers and parents of the beneficiaries, we want thank you for this noble gift I want assure you that the beneficiaries would utilize the gift judiciously.”
The beneficiaries primary schools include: St Mary’s LGEA Primary School Lokoja, Holy Trinity LGEA Primary and Maha’adi LGEA Primary School Lokoja.
