I wish to, on behalf of my family, NYCN Executive, felicitate with the entire Youths of Kogi State as we begin the journey into another Year.

For all of us, the year 2017 undoubtedly brought one of many happy and positive feelings. There is no gain saying that, at individual and/or collective instances we also witnessed some sad, unfortunate and regrettable occurrences in our lives in the past year, but as the Holy Books of our two major religions instruct us, we give thanks to God.

I want to particularly use this opportunity to appreciate all those who made my 2017. The year, no doubt was a remarkable one for me and it witnessed events that have significantly shaped me into the man that I am today.

First of all, let me appreciate my mum, Mrs. Elizabeth Nihi; My wife, Mrs. Abimbola Nihi, and my lovely children. Your boundless love, prayers, support, and understanding are my major propellers in life. My prayer is for God to keep you all alive and healthy for me in 2018. Bigger things will happen this year.

My immeasurable thanks goes to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his support and encouragement to me (personally), and the entire youths of Kogi State, especially through the NYCN.
May the Almighty Allah continue to give you the wisdom and strength to continue in the actualization of the dream of a New Kogi State.

I also want to acknowledge the tremendous impact of my Boss and Mentor, Hon. Edward Onoja for effecting in me, the true knowledge and understanding of the concept of Exemplary Leadership. Sir, your words of wisdom and encouragement gave significant boost to my self development in the year under review, some of your principles of equity and fairness so adopted, has shaped the leadership acumen in me, and has eased on me, the unnecessary pressures associated with leadership.

You are indeed an intelligent leader. May your fountain of knowledge never run dry.

Hon. (Mrs) Petra Akinti Onyegbule, a solid pillar, English teacher, motivator, and a reservoir of intelligence, from which i have scooped a lot. You are God sent. I Hope you will not get tired of me in 2018.

To my NYCN family, the love unity and progress witnessed in this past year was made possible because of our individual resolve to put the general good above personal interests. Your support gave me the capacity to maintain belief in myself and the institution.

2018 is going to be a better year for NYCN, we are going to initiate an aggressive pursuit towards the actualization of the Youth Rebirth Agenda. Last year was just a tip of the iceberg. This year, and collectively, we shall elevate to a blissful eldorado.

I cannot forget to also appreciate the tireless effort of the NYCN Elders Council, ably chaired by my Leader, the grand father of Kogi Youths, the Pioneer Chairman, NYCN, Kogi State, Senior Comr Haroon Yussuff Opotu. The Elders Council is the invisible chain that has held the Council together in 2017. Your wise counsel, reprove and tutorials helped in illuminating our part towards achieving the goals of NYCN.

In 2018, we pray that God continue to give you the strength to keep up together.

Alphabets may not be adequate in typing the names of all those who made my 2017 unique, neither would words be enough to convey the depth of the appreciation that i hold. But for all those who were part of my life in 2017, either active or passive, you made your marks, and i acknowledge your impact. May God reward you accordingly.

As we enter 2018, Let us continue our march to the future, towards the attainment of our collective vision of a strong, united, prosperous and harmonious Kogi State– a secure Kogi for us and for our coming generations.

I wish you all a Happy and fulfilling New Year.

Signed:

Comr. Oladele John NIHI
