A Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State has ordered status quo-ante in the move by the Senate to summon the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Edward Onoja over N53.4m bank loan.

The court presided by Justice Phoebe Ayua also ordered status on the Senate’s inquiry and investigation of Onoja on the basis of the petition by one Timothy Henry dated July 11, 2017 conveyed to him on March 8, 2018 until the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.
The Senate committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions had in a letter dated March 8, 2018 summoned Onoja to explain the award of N53m to Olamaboro Local Government in Kogi State when he was a manager of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in 2008.
But in an ex parte application by his lawyer, Mike Enahoro-Eba contending that unless an order restraining the Senate is granted, the fundamental rights of his client could be violated.
The case has been adjourned to April 23 for hearing.
