- Foundation’s Phase One Medical Outreach Reaches Underserved Communities, Vulnerable Residents
Thousands of households across Kogi State, Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory have benefited from the first phase of the nationwide medical outreach programme of My People First Foundation, as the organisation continues its commitment to taking healthcare and humanitarian assistance to underserved communities across Nigeria.
The first phase of the outreach covered Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Makoko Community in Yaba, Lagos State, as well as Rubochi and Gwargwada communities in the Federal Capital Territory.
The intervention was specifically designed to bring medical services closer to people living in remote and underserved communities, particularly residents who face financial, geographical and other barriers to accessing healthcare.
During the outreaches, residents received medical attention and healthcare support for various health concerns, with children, adults, elderly persons, widows and other vulnerable members of the communities among those who benefited.
The initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader humanitarian vision of “Serving Humanity, Empowering Communities, Saving Lives,” and reflects its commitment to ensuring that vulnerable Nigerians are not left behind because of their economic circumstances or location.
Leading the humanitarian intervention is the Founder of My People First Foundation, Hajiya Aishat Oyiza Omade, who, alongside her team, has continued to champion grassroots interventions aimed at improving the wellbeing of vulnerable individuals and families.
Hajiya Omade said the Foundation believes that humanitarian service must go beyond words and should be reflected in practical interventions that directly touch the lives of people at the grassroots.
The Foundation’s approach has also provided opportunities for its team to interact directly with community leaders, traditional institutions, local health workers and residents, enabling the organisation to better understand the needs of the communities it serves.
Across the three locations, beneficiaries and community stakeholders expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing the decision to take healthcare services directly to underserved communities as timely and impactful.
Among those who acknowledged the initiative were political office holders, traditional rulers, local health workers, widows and elderly residents, who commended the Foundation for its growing humanitarian footprint and its continued focus on people at the grassroots.
For many residents, the outreach provided an opportunity to receive medical attention without having to travel long distances or shoulder the full financial burden associated with accessing healthcare.
The Foundation said the completion of the first phase would not bring the programme to an end, stressing that more remote and underserved communities across Nigeria are expected to benefit from subsequent phases of its medical and humanitarian interventions.
According to the organisation, the nationwide outreach forms part of its long-term commitment to giving back to society and responding to the needs of communities that require support the most.
The Foundation is also expected to continue combining healthcare interventions with other humanitarian programmes targeted at vulnerable Nigerians, including widows, elderly persons, children and families facing difficult socioeconomic circumstances.
With the first phase successfully reaching communities in Kogi, Lagos and the FCT, My People First Foundation says its humanitarian journey across Nigeria will continue, with more communities expected to be reached in the coming phases.
The organisation reiterated that its mission remains firmly rooted in humanity, community empowerment and the preservation of lives, with a commitment to ensuring that no community is too remote and no vulnerable person is too forgotten to receive a helping hand.
