Mike Abu Emerge Chairman, Kogi State NUJ Federated Chapel

The immediate past Chief Press Secretary to Former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Mr Mike Abu has emerged as the Chairman, Federated Chapel of the Kogi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ.

In a keenly contested election at the NUJ Press Centre yesterday, Gideon Ayodele got elected as Secretary.

Abu and other elected members of executive will pilot the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.

The election, which was supervised by the state secretary of NUJ, Comrade Adeiza Momoh Jimoh, produced Comrade Felix Udebu as Treasurer, Comrade Omale Paul Victor as Assistant Secretary while Musa Tanimu Nasidi was voted in to as Auditor.

The newly elected officials led by the chairman, Mike Abu, paid a courtesy call on the state Chairman of Kogi State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Ali Atabor in his office with a promise to reposition the chapel for optimum productivity.

The Chairman in his inaugural speech promised to move the chapel to the next level of development. He equally encouraged members to uphold the tenets, doctrines and ethics of the profession as the public would rely on them for information.

Mr Abu described community newspaper as the most important bastion of information dissemination, says majority of people live in rural areas and need to be informed of activities as it relates to their existence.
