May Day: Ododo Hails Workers Contribution to Development of Kogi State

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11 elections, Alh. Usman Ododo has congratulated workers in the state on the occasion of this year’s May Day celebration.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Monday, Ododo saluted the workers for their immense contributions to the development of Kogi state in the past years.

He commended the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello for prioritizing workers welfare, assuring to sustain the gesture with improved welfare package for pensioners and civil servants.

He reiterated his commitment to partnering with the Organized Labour in the State to improve the standard of living of members, pointing out that if elected, he will see them as partners in progress.

According to him, he is in the state governorship race to consolidate the achievements of the present administration of Alh. Yahaya Bello with renewed hope for all and sundry.

As a unionist himself, Ododo said he is aware of the constant need for workers to have conducive working conditions, improved welfare and other incentives that will make the working environment pleasurable.

“I am not unaware of what Alhaji Yahaya Bello has done in health, teaching and other critical sectors of the state workforce. This will be improved  upon and consolidated for the good of workers.

“I urge workers in the confluence state to be dutiful, diligent and ultimately proud of their profession and trade,” he said.

He promised to introduce civil service reforms that workers will be proud of, adding that he counts on the unwavering support workers who are the engine room government.
