The Chief of Staff to Kogi State Government, Chief Edward Onoja, has said that the six months suspension slammed on Hon. Friday Sanni Makama (PDP Igalamela-Odolu) is long overdue.
Onoja, in his reaction to the news of Makama’s suspension on social media said; “There is a limit to dishonorable acts, notoriety and legislative rascality. He won’t be missed at all”.
“And for those who are gullible enough to keep funding his mischievous act…over to you. After all, all is from Kogi’s fettered treasury !!!!!”, he added.
Kogi State House of Assembly unanimously agreed to suspend the lawmaker for six months on allegations of anti legislative activities against the house.
The suspension followed a motion of urgent public importance filed by Hon. Hassan Abdullahi Bello (APC Ajaokuta constituency).
He explained that the embattled lawmaker have overreached himself and dragging the image of the house to disrepute.
Honourable Bello recalled that his activities were recently questioned and consequently an adhoc committee set up to investigate his activities.
Seconding the motion Ahmed Mohammed (APC Ankpa 1) said the motion was timely as Hon. Friday Sanni had always acted contrary to the dictates of the House.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umar Imam has been served a letter of summon by a state high court in idah asking the assembly to maintain status quo.
Also joined in the suit are governor Yahaya Bello, state attorney general, minority leader Godwin Osuyi and the kogi state government.
The suit which was instituted by the member representing Igalamela-Odolu constituency was for the assembly to maintain status quo.
Speaker Imam, who read the letter of summon, said the issue should not be discussed as it was in court.
Members in their contributions noted that Friday Sanni has always acted against the will of the house as such be suspended.
The speaker said the reaction of members was justified as it was not in prejudice of the suit.
