It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I write this tribute to late MAJOR GENERAL OLUBUNMI IREFIN. You were an uncle, a brother, a father and a friend to all in a million; humble, kind, loving, caring and good at heart and soul.!!!

Today we will mourn you in our own way as we pay tribute to you. It is indeed a sad day in our land.

We still wake up every morning hoping that it is a dream, and it hurts knowing you are gone forever because we were together this time two weeks ago for your mother’s burial ceremony.

You were always around us. The people’s General… Your sudden death came as a rude shock. We did not expect it and wish we had more time to continue to appreciate you.

You touched so many lives by your selfless and countless acts of kindness, always giving and never expecting any favours in return.

Your love for us is one that is only comparable to that of a mother, this is so because it’s indescribable.

Little did I know when I wrote last Sunday on: “WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR”. Thank God for the good testimonies shared by everyone about you.

You have left a void in the family that will never be filled.

Words cannot describe this difficult moment, but if this is the last time I get to say goodbye then, I know I will do so with the knowledge that I consider myself blessed to have met and discussed with you.

While we mourn today, we also take comfort in the fact that your mission on earth has been fulfilled. We thank the Lord for your life and bid you farewell until we meet again.

God in His infinite wisdom knows best. May our Lord comfort and sustain your family, your wife and children now and always. May God Almighty keep you safe resting in perfect peace, Amen.

Adieu The People’s General!!!
