The forum of concerned Kogi state workers has accused the Minister of Labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige of trying to twist the truth by misinforming the public about the outcome of October 5 labour meeting which the minister said was inconclusive as no decision was arrived at on the new minimum wage.

In a release at the end of a conference in Lokoja on Saturday, the forum maintained that the tripartite National minimum wage negotiations committee arrived at N30,000 as the figure to be recommended to the Federal Government at the conclusion of its sitting.
The is at variance with minister’s position that no decision was arrived at on the amount to be paid as minimum wage.
The press statement signed by Comrade Adex Onsachi Shaibu, the chairman and Ayo Ajakaye, the secretary called on organised labour to withdraw the threat to embark on indefinite strike action as result of the lingering industrial crisis as the mass action would cripple the economy of the nation.
The body urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently announce the N30,000 new minimum wage as agreed by the tripartite committee on new minimum wage.
The forum urged the organised labour to continue to engage the Federal Government through social dialogue, positive consultation and consolidation in the spirit of tri-partism.
The forum however expressed appreciation to the Federal government’s commitment to the regular payment of salaries and pension to workers and pensioners respectively since the inception of the present administration.
