The people of the ancient city of Lokoja,especially residents of the Adankolo housing estate in the state capital has called on the leadership of the state government led by captain Idris Wada to direct the ministry of Water resources to urgently connect the estate to the greater lokoja water line.
The residents who decried the non connection of the estate to the lokoja greater water line despite a formal directive by the former governor Alhaji Ibrahim Idris described the action of the water resources ministry as lack of sensitivity to the plight of the people.
In a letter addressed to the kogi state Ministry of Water Resources, signed by one Emmanuel Orodedah, and made available to national accord in lokoja, noted that the community was aware that the former governor gave approval for the connection of the estate to the water line.
The statement added that residents of the area were surprised that this important directive from the former chief executive was not carried out by the ministry and the relevant agency
The estate which is also named “Musa Etudaiye estate” according to Orowedah is the third oldest estate in the state capital and wondered why it was neglected by the authorities.
He said it is unfortunate that several visits and persuasions from the leadership of the estate has not yielded any result and called on the new government to enforce the directive since government is a continuous process.
The people called on the ministry to show concern over the plight of the residents of the estate who had travel several miles in search of portable water.
