Ahead of 2019 general elections the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been advised to allow candidates with the capacity to contest for the Lokoja I state constituency’s House of Assembly ticket.

A youth mobilizer in Lokoja LGA, Hon. Jaiyeola Awojuola Jasper gave the advise in a chat with newsmen. He opined that former lawmaker, Hon. Suleiman Babadoko stands a better place to win in the next House of Assembly election amongst those aspiring.
He urged opposition PDP in Lokoja LGA to open up the contest to aspirants from all wards with zoning restrictions, pointing out that Hon. Babadoko remains a viable choice.
The youth mobilizer said aside having the wherewithal to prosecute his ambition, Babadoko has existing political structures in virtually all wards and polling units in the area that can be relied upon to win election for the PDP.
He added that the advise to the PDP has become necessary noting that having consulted widely with stakeholders, electorates, the opinion of the people of Lokoja 1 indicates that they are at home with Babadoko.
Hon. Jasper called on party members in Lokoja LGA and the PDP to take into consideration that while the party is regrouping, repositioning, it would be politically expedient to allow winning candidates run the party’s flag in 2019 rather than narrow the space with zoning arrangements that would not put the party in winning position.
Hon. Jasper said aside making public his views, he has also put his position on paper and has submitted same to the party Secretariat at all levels in the state, warning of the consequences such action to zone the assembly seat would cause.
Hon. Jasper commended the party in it efforts at reaching out to aggrieved members, said that action must be complemented with opening up of political space by allowing viable candidates pick the party’s tickets that would see the party to victory in 2019.
Jasper called on party members in Lokoja LGA to remain focused, resolute as every indication points to the PDP making a rebound back in the next dispensation.
