Against the backdrop of the defeat it suffered in the last Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency election in Kogi State, the stakeholders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have blamed the misfortune of the party on the activities of some cabals undermining the authority of the state chairman Indah Abdulrahman.

In a resolution signed by the Chairman, Indah Abdulrahman and the Secretary, Collins Adama and made available to Kogireports in Lokoja, the party frowned at the conduct of the National organising Secretary, Mr Emeka Aduma who allegedly hijacked the proceedings of the party in the State.

The statement maintained that the embattled National Organizing secretary did not hide his preference for an aspirant against the candidate of the party which led to their failure in the just concluded bye-election in the State.

The party also decried the continued usurpation of the office of the state chairman by national officers of the party, stressing that their by-passing the official line of communication between the national secretariat and the state chapter has impacted negatively on the growth of the party.

“The failure of the party in the just concluded bye -election was a fall out of the house divided against itself. We have warned the national officers who preferred a particular aspirant against the verdict of the party.

“We are aware of sinister moves by some cabal at the National Secretariat to inaugurate an illegal EXCO in Kogi State. We have resolved to resist their machinations.

“We urged the National leaders of the party to recognize the outcome of the 25th July, 2018 congress which elected Engineer Indah Abdulrahman as Chairman. The process was supervised by the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC ) and Security Agencies in the state as required by law,” the statement noted.

While restating its commitment to the growth and progress of the party, the statement called on the party members and the Security Agencies to be vigilant to forestall the palpable breakdown of law and order which may be occasioned by the activities of some cabal within the party.
