Lokoja: Dangote Truck Accident Survivor in Critical Condition

Son of the man crushed to death by Dangote Cement truck in Lokoja, Kogi state capital, on Tuesday has been resuscitated but still in critical condition.

It was confirmed that the accident survivor, Kabiru Yusuf, was rushed to Lokoja City Clinic and Maternity around Maigari of Lokoja’s palace in an unconscious state having lost much blood.

Kabiru, an indigene of Ajobe in Ankpa local government area of the state, survived the accident but his left hand was crushed by the truck. After clinical assessment, aside crushed upper limb, he also sustained chest and abdominal injuries.

Speaking with journalists on hospital bed on Tuesday night, bemoaned the unfulfilled dreams of his father who was crushed to death by the truck.
He explained that himself, a younger brother and their father were on their way to farm when the got involved in the sad accident.

“My father, Yusuf Amodu, is a retired soldier. After he retired from the military, he stayed briefly in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state before relocating to Lokoja. He farms cassava and process gaari. He has plans to go into gaari production on a larger scale.

“My father was industrious and had great plans for his family. He is currently building a house in the village with proceeds from his cassava business.

“We were actually going to farm to get cassava for a buyer. My father had planned to use the fund from the sales to continue construction work on the house he is building in the village,” he said.

Kabiru corrected reports that his father and one son were crushed to death by the truck. He said the truck tyres crushed his father to death while the truck ran over his left hand. However, his younger brother escaped unhurt. He confirmed only his father died in the fatal accident.

A staff at the clinic told our reporter that Kabiru was brought in with a badly injured limb. He described his condition as a severe trauma case.

“His wounds will take time to heal. Aside the crushed upper limb, he sustained chest injuries.

“He need to be sorted by an orthopedic surgeon. We will arrange for one to attend to him here. 

“However, he needs more blood. He needs four pints and has only gotten one,” he explained.

A family member who spoke with our reporter appealed to government and spirited individuals to assist Kabiru so he can get back on his feet soon.

The remains of late Yusuf Amodu will be buried according to Islamic rites in his home town on Wednesday.
