Residents of Felele Bus Stop community in Lokoja, Kogi state, have resolved to embark on mass protest over lack of power supply by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) since February this year.

The community, in a statement issued on Thursday by concerned members of the community, said when the transformer developed fault in February, they were asked to pay for the repair of the transformer which they did.

n a statement signed on behalf of the community by Alhaji Raji Abubakar, they added that the community reliably gathered that after the transformer had been repaired, it was moved to an undisclosed place after which the community was again asked to pay for transporting the transformer back to the community.

They added that to their surprise, the transformer was never brought back to the community and since that time they have been living in total darkness.

The concerned members said when they approached the office of AEDC in GRA Lokoja, they were not allowed to see the regional manager but rather they were informed by one of the staff that their boss is not willing to see them.

According to the community, they later visited another AEDC office where they were informed that the transformer has been moved to Abuja.

“The community paid for the repair and paid another money for AEDC to move the transformer back to us, but is sad that up till this moment they have refused to give us light. Since February up till now we are in a total darkness.

“If they don’t bring back of our transformer we are going to embark on massive protest,” he said.
