The member representing Ankpa 2 constituency at the Kogi state house of assembly, Hon Alh Alfa Momoh Rabiu bewildered by the accident involving some commuters and Kogi poly students along the Lokoja-Okene road has called on government at both the state and federal level to find lasting solutions to the bad state of the highway which has recently claimed many lives as a result of collision and accidents.
The honorable who was thrown into tears could not manage his grief while commiserating with the Kinami family in Lokoja as the family was reportedly bereaved of two biological brothers, Abubakar Haruna Kinami and Abubakar Mohammed Kinami even as he prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls and other victims of the sad incident.
“This is not the first time such incident as this sad one is happening and I call on the state government to either commence immediate rehabilitation of the road or send a ‘Save our Soul’ memo to the Federal government.”
“We cannot continue to be recording avoidable deaths when we know it’s root course. Although words does not return the dead, I wish the Kinamis’ and the families of other victims the fortitude to bear this loss. It is a very pitiable event and I pray that God will in his infinite mercy comfort the bereaved families and then, accept the repose of the departed.
It will be recalled that a similar event was recorded earlier in May this year during which the death toll recorded was counted in tens. It however took the intervention of security agents to calm angry students whom were almost on rampage to demonstrate against what many of them described as recklessness of Trucks and Heavy vehicles plying the road.
