Lokoja Accident: Kogi Speaker Commiserates With Students, Assures Implementation Of Traffic Laws

The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Mathew Kolawole has shared in the sorrow of the friends and families of accident casualties in Felele, Lokoja.
The accident which happened in the early hours of Wednesday, claimed the lives of students and caused rampage and pandemonium within students and road users.
The Speaker, in a statement by his Special Assistant on New Media, Abel Olushola Julius said it is time for Lokoja – Abuja highway, especially the Lokoja portion be given the needed attention by both Federal and Kogi State Governments. He urged government to fix the bad portions in order to avert the recurrence of this sad but avoidable mishap.
He applauded the efforts of the State Government for speedily arresting the situation before it deteriorated and making arrangements to erect pedestrian facilities for the benefit of students and residents of the area.
The Speaker further revealed that the Traffic Bill before the House of Assembly will be thoroughly worked upon to capture all traffic issues as critically observed in the State and passed as soon as possible to drastically reduce accidents in Kogi State.
According to him, the passage of the Traffic Bill will also provide empowerment opportunities for Kogi Youths through employment and generate revenue for the State.
The Speaker implored Kogi State Polytechnic students to be law abiding and be more safety conscious when plying the roads.
