When Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, declared August 21 as a holiday to mark President Muhammadu Buhari’s return from the United Kingdom, many saw how dearly he loved the president.
However, Kogi owes 14 month’s salaries and the workers are on strike.
If states governed by the president’s critic-goverors are flourishing but those governed by his favourites are failing, this can generate ill will for the president.
The governor should therefore pay Kogi workers as soon as possible.
