Few days ago, the social media space was awash with unconfirmed rumours that the 21 outgoing Caretaker Chairmen are lobbying some All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts to convince Governor Ododo Ahmed Usman to impose their candidacy in the forthcoming local government election in the State.
Moments later, information filtered in that the same 21 Caretaker Chairmen are neck deep in a ploy to lobby the pro-equity and fair Chief of Staff (CoS) to the governor with large sums of money to convince the governor to do everything within his ambit to return them unopposed as elected Chairmen.
In all rumours, there is this element of truth!
By all indications, we are privy to the information that Governor Ododo has insisted that for democracy to thrive, inculcate inclusiveness and sustain internal democracy, there should be a level – playing ground for all interested parties.
We use this avenue to call on the governor to do everything humanly possible to instruct his Chief of Staff (CoS) to avoid banana peels that could affect good governance in the grassroot areas of the State.
We implore his Excellency not to allow unpopular aspirants vying for Chairmanship to tarnish the good name he has built in the heart of every Kogites, irrespective of party background through his people – friendly developmental policies in his very short time in office as the Executive Governor of the State.
This is our humble submission for a virile, sustainable and productive local government areas in the State.
