LG Poll: Some People Who Have Been Milking the Local Council Are Resorting Violence – Awoniyi

The Kogi State Deputy Governor,Yomi Awoniyi, has called on politicians in Nigeria to always see election and politics as a game aimed at bringing service and development to the people. He said some people who have over the years milked the council dry led to the resistance and violence

The Deputy Governor stated this after casting his ballot in Mopamuro LGA for the Local Council election.

The Deputy Governor described the arrangement put in place as credible and transparent, commended the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission for a very good job.

While describing the challenges faced in the logistic arrangement as normal,no election in the world he noted is a hundred percent perfect.

Awoniyi, called on those who could not make it in this year’s election to be patient as the may be winners the next time.

He said the state Government efforts put in place at ensuring a credible and elected officials at the various councils in the state is borne out of the importance Capt Idris Wada the State Governor attaches to grass roots administration as well as the role it plays in the lives of the people.

He commended the people for their peaceful and orderly conduct as well as for turning out en mass to elect their leaders.

He urged them to keep faith with their participation spirit for the forth coming general election slated for 2015.

The Deputy Governor said the fear of the impact change expected in the Local Government Area has necessitated the hostilities, said some people who have over the years milked the council dry led to the resistance and violence.
