LG Poll: Kogi West is A No-Go Area For Opposition Parties – Awoniyi

The Western Senatorial District of Kogi State comprising seven local Government Areas, has been described as a no go area for opposition political parties in the forth coming Kogi State council poll.

Yomi Awoniyi, State Deputy Governor who made the remarks, said while other political parties in the state are also contesting the election, they will be overwhelmed by the popularity of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The State Deputy Governor made the assertion in Kabba at the flag off of campaign rally for the forth coming local council polls for Western Senatorial District.

Awoniyi noted that the Western District has over time remained home of the PDP, assured of a total sweep by the PDP in the May 4th 2013 poll.

The victory that will be recorded by the PDP, Awoniyi explained will be informed by the achievements so far recorded by Capt Idris Wada’s administration.

The Deputy Governor begged party members from the area who are aggrieved to accept the hands of fellowship extended to them to make the forth coming poll an easy one for the party.

Awoniyi described the PDP as a party that has serious positive vision and mission for development of the area.

In his speech, the state chairman of the party urged the people to rally round the party for a clean sweep of the area come 4th May 2013.

He urged the people to turn out en-mass and vote massively for the party to enable them key into the transformation politics of Capt Idris Wada, the Kogi State Governor.

In his remarks, Abulrahman Mohammed,Vice Chairman PDP West Senatorial District said efforts had been made to ensure the victory of the party in the forth coming poll,urged them to be united for a convincing victory come May 4th 2013.

Highlights of the flag off was the official presentation of flags to the candidates by Capt Idris Wada, who noted that so much has been achieved within the last fifteen months of his administration.

The State Governor described the Youth Empowerment scheme, Agricultural revolution in the state, rehabilitation of roads in Mopa, Kabba, Iyara and efforts to fix the Kabba- Egbe- Ilorin road and other infrastructures among several other projects his administration is embarking upon as reasons why the PDP should be voted for in the forth coming council poll.

The Governor promised to use the over 130 projects advertised in the SURE-P project across the state and the provision of electricity to Council areas.

The Governor promised to make the Omi Dam functional so as to create job for the teeming unemployed.

The Governor urged the people to come out en-mass as it will be free, fair and credible.
