The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has distributed about 1,138 branded 50kg rice to residents across the 15 wards of the council.
Zacchaeus, who flagged off the distribution on Thursday at the LG Secretariat in Kabba, said the gesture was in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
Represented by the Director of Local Government (DLG), Mrs Omolola Funmilayo Olorungbogun, urged citizens to use the opportunity of the month to pray for the country and Kogi State
“You know that Gov. Ahmed Ododo is a man of the people and he sees and seizes opportunities such as this to make a statement regarding his undying love for the people.
“The governor is doing this to identify with them as he has always done,” he said.

The chairman expressed gratitude to the people for their massive vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the last elections, and assured the APC administration would deliver on the promises made during electioneering campaign.
“The peaceful atmosphere in the state is as a result of the prayers and spiritual efforts of both Muslims and Christians. The governor appreciates your prayers for him, this state and the country at large and I urge you not to relent”.
The chairman added that the gesture was part of his initiatives to improve the welfare of party leaders and to motivate them to be more proactive in the development of the party.
He thanked the party leaders for their constant support and assistance to the party members across the state.
He added: “The food relief was part of the governor’s efforts to assist the people in the sacred month and elevate the condition of the less privileged.
“The items will be distributed to all residents of the local government area in each of the 15 wards.
“Proper arrangements has been put in place to ensure that the palliatives get to those who needed them most.
“We have put every measure in place to guard against diversion of these items. We have set up local government and ward sub-committees who will ensure that these items reach the most vulnerable people”.
Zacchaeus emphasised that the gesture was timely, considering the current economic hardship faced by the people.
