A socio-cultural group, Igala Vanguard, has applauded Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho (APC/Kogi East) for standing tall for the entire state.

In a statement by the group’s convener, Engr. Lawrence Akpa, the Igala Vanguard praised the lawmaker for his proactive advocacy leading to the official recognition of Kogi as an oil producing state by the Nigerian Senate.

Akpa also lauded Senator Echocho’s remarkable legislative prowess demonstrated during debates in the Senate, adding that his unwavering commitment to championing the interests of his constituents, particularly in ensuring equitable representation and resource allocation for Kogi State is worthy of commendation.

Expressing concerns over the apparent neglect of certain communities within the state, notably Ibaji, despite their significant contributions to the state’s revenue through oil production, the Igala Vanguard called upon the state government to prioritize the needs of Ibaji and the broader Igala land.

Akpa highlighted the irony of Ibaji’s situation, given Kogi State’s receipt of 13% derivation funds from the federation account, underscoring the urgent need for attention and development in the region.

The group urged key stakeholders, including the state Deputy Speaker, Commissioner of Agriculture, and local representatives, to collaborate with Senator Echocho in advocating for Ibaji’s interests at the highest levels of governance.

Akpa called for swift action from state authorities to ensure that Ibaji and the wider Igala community receive the necessary support and are not marginalized in the allocation of resources and development initiatives.
