#KogiDecides: Police Order Restriction of Movements

The police high command has ordered restriction of movements in Kogi within the period of the governorship election (6.30am to 6pm) holding across the state on Saturday.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police in charge of Operations, Sotonye Wakama who addressed the press in Lokoja on Friday said the restriction is to enable INEC staff and security personnel on election assignments perform their duties effectively without interruptions.
He advised those planning to travel through Kogi state to other parts of the country to either postpone their journeys or take alternative routes in view of the inconvenience they would face should they pass through Kogi.
The DIG said men of the police have been directed to ensure thorough screening of all vehicles passing through the state in view of security concerns that some persons are planning ship arms into the state to disrupt the peaceful process of the election.
He said adequate number of security personnel have been deployed across all the polling units in the state and urged the voters to come out to exercise their franchise without fear.
DIG Wakama warned those that want to perpetrate violence to steer clear, stressing that its men will come down heavily on anyone who foments trouble.
