Nigerians who are well to do and blessed have been charged to use resources given them by God for service and support to the less privilege in the society.
Dr Williams Toyin Akanle, a Kogi West senatorial aspirant gave the charge when he host over three hundred widows in his country home, Itedo-Makutu Isanlu, Yagba East local government area of Kogi state.
Dr Akanle said his vision to provide succour and assist the widows was birthed in 2003 after his fathers demise which left his mother to struggle to see the children through life.
He called on Nigerians who are highly placed to offer help to widows in the society.
Dr Akanle lamented at the level of personal aggrandizement by some who occupy public office. He tasked politicians especially to leverage on their privileges to serve and impact lives positively.
“Nothing gives joy like giving to the poor, needy and less privileged in the society. That is the only way we can go to sleep with his two eyes closed,” he said.
He called on well to do individuals to join hands in providing succour.
Dr Akanle described the support as his modest support. He called on the widows as well as the needy to be determined and look up to God for help.
He assured the widows of his continued support while urging them to live in peace and unity with one another as no meaningful development and aspiration can be achieved in an atmosphere of violence.
