Ahead of All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election to choose the the party’s flag bearer for 2023 senatorial contest in Kogi West, the camp of former Rep member, Sunday Steve Karimi, has been engaging archaic tactics to disparage other aspirants who are better than him.

Their initial innuendos were targeted at his former benefactor, Senator Smart Adeyemi. They engaged relentlessly in character assassination laced with odious lies that can only come from a kindergarten politician. In one of their sponsored publications, they alleged that Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi has colluded with the National Chairman of APC, His Excellency, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, to collate a separate list of delegates for the primary election. As at the time they went on air, the party was yet to roll out guidelines!

Senator Smart Adeyemi, a matured and experienced politician, just ignored them and allowed them wallow in the ocean of ignorance.

Recently, they added a young, enterprising, unblemished Dr. Muyi Aina to their ‘hit list’.

Dr. Muyi Aina, a gentleman to the core, joined the race with elegance and carried himself about with unusual humility, but these political desperadoes feel threatened because of his intimidating profile.

The sponsored petitioners who tried to block him during APC screening exercise and even celebrate his anticipated disqualification while he was going through screening.

They are angered that Dr. Aina, who hails from same community as their principal, seems to be gaining momentum right in their backyard!

Karimi is scared of all aspirants jostling for APC senatorial ticket and the reasons are not far fetched. He does not have a solid base in the party. He joined the party after his colossal failure to pick PDP ticket in 2019 and none of his former associates followed him to APC. He is solely banking on the promise by a top official in Governor Yahaya Bello’s cabinet who has collected much money from him with the assurance that the Governor will endorse him as consensus candidate.

While we recognise his right to aspire, we want to warn him to desist from dirty politicking as such will backfire soon.

Karimi must be told in clear terms that Senate is too big for him. We won’t allow him scatter APC before his eventual defection to ADC.
