Hon. Jaiyeola Awuojuola Jasper has once again reiterated his resolve to ensure that only a man with the passion to uplift the people of Kogi West Senatorial District people will get the nod to represent them in the Senate.
In an interview with newsmen, Jasper said Smart Adeyemi’s third term aspiration is mere wishful thinking.
Jasper, a former supporter and ardent mobilizer for Senator Smart Adeyemi said nobody is thinking about the ambition of Smart Adeyemi in Kogi West.
He wondered what Adeyemi left behind in the Senate after a “failed eight year stint”.
Jasper stated that equity and fairness should play a major role in who becomes Senator in 2019.
“Based on performance, carrying people along, it becomes laughable that Senator Smart is thinking of returning to the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
“The next Senator for the West must have a heart to carry people along and remember those he started with. Looking back, it is on record that those who began with the former senator are today his major opposition. All his friends and political associates who began with him right from the time he rose to become a leader in the NUJ and to the Senate are people he has long abandoned.
He lamented how the former Senator abandoned the NUJ, a Union that brought him to limelight.
“I can tell you that we will not vote a man who will get to the top and then look down to insult us. We will not vote self centred people again, people who think about themselves alone. Life is about appreciating those who help you to the top. We’ve learnt our lesson and we would not make such mistake again. The adage that says once beaten twice shy will come to play if Senator Smart contest in 2019,” he said.
Hon Jasper described the ambition of the former senator as a failed bid because his antecedents of not appreciating those who help him to the top are factors that would stand against him.
He described Lokoja-Koto as an area that have vowed to vote massively against the former Senator. He said the APC will be undoing itself if the right thing is not done in who fly the party’s ticket in 2019.
