Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello yesterday said government will begin empowerment Programme for 239 youths from across the state on monthly basis with effect from the month of August 2016 to the end of his administration.

Bello, who said this in Lokoja during a youth interactive forum to mark his 100 days in office, noted that the initiative was part of the efforts by his administration in tackling high rates of youth unemployment which often lead to crimes and other vices.

He said his government since assumption of office, had taken some major steps aimed at putting the state on the path of sustainable development, assuring that Kogi would experience ‘real change’ under his administration.
He said his administration will soon construct three model schools across the three senatorial districts of the state in its efforts to give facelift to public schools which he said are in shambles.
“In the days ahead by the special grace of God and with your support, our public schools will have facelift. Those whose children are in private schools will come back to public schools”, he said.
