Kogi SUBEB Suspends Head Teacher for Alleged Negligence

Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has suspended the head teacher of St. Luke Model 3 Primary School, Adankolo, Lokoja, Mrs. Mercy Ibrahim for negligence of duty.
The Chairman of the board, Mr. Suleiman Abdullahi, made the disclosure in Lokoja on Wednesday when he paid an unscheduled visit to the school.

SUBEB boss had, during the visit to the school, saw over 60 pupils receiving lessons on bare floor in one of the classrooms.
The SUBEB chairman asked the head teacher why the school did not provide lockers and chairs for the pupils after collecting N3,500 each for enrolment but she could not provide a convincing response.
Abdullahi, thereby, ordered for her immediate suspension and directed the Local Government Education Authority in Lokoja to carry out a full investigation into the activities of the school.
The SUBEB boss called on the head teachers to be truthful in their dealings and urged them to assist the government in developing the education sector.
The Permanent Member 1, in the board, Mr. Audu Ibrahim, said the punishment meted out to the head teacher would serve as deterrent to others that were doing same to their pupils.
